Dr. Namrata Chhabra is a distinguished academic leader, biochemist, and visionary in medical education, with a career spanning over 38 years of excellence. Her relentless passion for simplifying complex biochemical concepts and her dedication to advancing healthcare education have driven her to create OurBiochemistry.com, a global platform that blends her deep expertise with innovative learning resources for medical students and professionals worldwide.

Dr. Chhabra’s journey began with an unwavering commitment to understanding the intricate mechanisms of life sciences. She earned her M.B.B.S. from Government Medical College & Hospital, Amritsar, India in 1984, followed by an M.D. in Medical Biochemistry from the same institution in 2002. Her academic pursuits were further enriched by her Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from S.G.R.D. Institute of Research and Medical Sciences, India, in 2023, and an M.Phil. in Health Professions Education from Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 2020. Additionally, she is a proud recipient of the prestigious CMCL FAIMER Fellowship (2016), further emphasizing her commitment to medical education innovation.

With her deep foundation in Medical Biochemistry and Medical Education, Dr. Chhabra has held several key leadership roles throughout her career. Currently, she serves as the Associate Dean of Admissions, Chair of the Admissions Committee, and Professor of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Genetics at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. Her previous roles include Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at AUA College of Medicine and Executive Dean at S.S.R. Medical College in Mauritius, where she played an instrumental role in shaping academic programs, faculty development, and curriculum design.

Dr. Chhabra’s teaching and leadership experience, combined with her extensive research portfolio, positions her as a thought leader in the fields of obesity, diabetes mellitus, and cardiometabolic risk factors, with over 55 peer-reviewed publications in these areas. She is actively involved in global professional organizations, serves on editorial boards of several reputable journals, and brings a wealth of knowledge in research methodology, curriculum development, and student-centered teaching.

Her passion for teaching was first realized in 2010 when she launched a small blog called “Let’s Make Biochemistry Easy”, aimed at demystifying complex biochemical concepts. The blog quickly gained traction, drawing a dedicated audience of 100 daily visitors. Recognizing the growing need for accessible, high-quality educational resources, Dr. Chhabra transformed the blog into a full-fledged website, Biochemistry for Medics, in 2011. The platform grew exponentially, attracting 4,000–5,000 daily visitors from students and professionals worldwide who sought to deepen their understanding of biochemistry.

In response to the increasing demand and fueled by her desire to provide even more value, Dr. Chhabra rebranded the site as Ourbiochemistry.com. The site now offers a wide range of learning resources, an extensive question bank, team-based learning modules, and more. This evolution reflects Dr. Chhabra’s continued commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovative instructional methods to support the learning needs of medical students, educators, and healthcare professionals.
