Dr. Rahul Mannan, a dedicated professional in molecular pathology and biomarker discovery, joined the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan in 2018. Transitioning from a decade of clinical practice to research, Dr. Mannan has made significant contributions, including identifying LINC01187 and 2SC as diagnostic biomarkers for chromophobe renal cell carcinoma and FH-deficient renal cell carcinoma, now used in clinical practice at MLabs.
He established a state-of-the-art histopathology lab at the University of Michigan, focusing on incorporating emerging technologies like spatial transcriptomics and artificial intelligence to advance precision medicine. At the Michigan Oncology Sequencing Center (MI-ONCOSEQ), Dr. Mannan ensures the accuracy of genetic profiling for patient tumor samples, including leading the preparation and analysis of multiple myeloma samples for the MyDrug clinical project.
Dr. Mannan is also dedicated to medical education, mentoring students at all levels, and developing a comprehensive laboratory curriculum. He has initiated programs such as a summer lecture series and participated in STEM education events.
